The London Gliding Club Cadet Scheme.
The objectives of the scheme are to provide the right environment for young people to learn to fly gliders and progress to competition levels.
Young people between the ages of 15 and 20 yrs are eligible to join the scheme and their re-selection for the scheme is on an annual basis.
In return for some project work and helping out in the Dunstable Regionals they enjoy subsidised membership, half price launches and free airtime.
With the new "Champions" of the scheme we hope to see a renewed level of interest and quicker progress to cross country flying.
The selection process will become more rigorous as will the requirements for youngsters to stay on the scheme for additional years. In order to gain the opportunity to select cadets from a wider spectrum there will be an active attempt to attract newcomers to the sport through Schools and ATC squadrons.
